Merry Christmas...

hey everyone.... i hope all of you have (had) a very merry Christmas. it was my first Christmas as an orphan this year (since my parents moved down to south carolina). it is certainly a bit strange to not have my normal Christmas happenings with family and all that; i am going over to my aunt Diane's place this evening to be with her, my aunt Pat, and my cousin Amber though, so that'll be nice. my girlfriend Sarah had an incredibly delicious lunch at her place, so that was fun. i got to meet her mom, brother and sister-in-law... all quite fun people.
the count is officially four days now until i am back in London for a week; i can't friggin wait. speaking of cool English things, i found this video via Newstoday of a TV spot all about my absolutely favorite artist Banksy. it's quite interesting, enjoy...

way to go Addicks...

so, i am a supporter of Charlton Athletic, in case you didn't already know, and this season has been one disappointment after the other. however, after last night's match, there is a slight glimmer at the end of the tunnel. in case you are unfamiliar with how the English Premier League works: at the end of every season, the bottom three teams get relegated to the league below it. i give this bit of information because Charlton is in the very bottom spot (3 wins, 3 draws, 10 loses) and if they don't seriously kick things into gear soon, the will be relelgated to the Champions League and i will no longer be able to see them on TV here anymore. so why the positive title if this post is going to be so gloomy? they won last night, 1-0, with an incredible, 11th hour goal... it was literally the last play of the game. they actually played pretty well the entire match, but they just couldn't seem to get it done. that was until they were two minutes into stoppage time and one of the Charlton players got fouled pretty intentionally and a free kick was awarded to them. Talal El Karkouri stepped up to the ball, paused for a second, and drove the ball past the wall of defenders and into the back the net, completely unhindered; the goal keeper didn't even move!
i hope, with nearly every bit of my heart, that this win will energize the South London club and they will fight and claw their way out of relegation. we'll see....

p.s. Merry Christmas Sarah
